Terms of use

The short version: uOwe helps you keep track of shared costs. Use it fairly, keep your account safe, and remember that the numbers are only as right as what people enter.

Your account

You need an account to use uOwe. Give us a real email address, keep your password to yourself, and tell us at hello@uowe.app if you think someone else has got into your account. You’re responsible for what happens under it.

uOwe keeps the tab, not the money

uOwe records who paid for what and works out who owes whom. It doesn’t hold money, move money or process payments. When you record a settlement, you’re noting a payment you made some other way, in cash or by bank transfer.

Balances are calculated from what people in the group enter. Everyone in the group sees the same expenses and recorded payments, so a mistake is easy to spot: edit or delete an expense, or delete a payment, and the balances follow.

What you add stays yours

Groups, expenses and names you add belong to you and the people you share them with. You allow us to store them and show them to the members of that group so uOwe can do its job. We don’t use them for anything else.

Using uOwe fairly

Don’t use uOwe to break the law, harass people, or get into accounts or data that aren’t yours. Don’t try to overload or disrupt the service.

If an account does these things, we may suspend or close it. Where we can, we’ll tell you why first.

Prices

The free plan is free: unlimited groups and expenses, every split type, live balances and invites. Pro will cost €3.99 a month or €34.99 a year when it launches. You’ll always see the price before you pay, and you won’t be charged for anything you didn’t choose.

Availability

We work hard to keep uOwe running and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will never be unavailable or free of mistakes. uOwe is provided as it is. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law where you live.

Leaving

You can leave a group once your balance in it is settled; its owner can delete it once everyone is. You can stop using uOwe whenever you like. To delete your account and your data, email hello@uowe.app from the address on your account; deleting it yourself from Settings is on its way.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
